Dreadlock Retouch refers to taking care of the new hair that would have grown beneath the actual dreadlock. The new hair is either crocheted into a dreadlock using a crocheting hook or twisted into a dreadlock using the moulding gel. Both methods are ideal depending on the type of dreadlocks and their general condition.
This method is done using a specific and unique crocheting hook that locks the hair instantly. It is usually used on dreadlocks that are a bit thicker (about 0.8cm or more). Attention must be paid to the size of the hook as it determines the amount of hair it grabs during crocheting. It highly recommended that you have your done by professional as this method may lead to dreadlock breakage and/or cause pain. At The Dreadlock Parlour we boast of being the best in this regard doing 4 year old kids without any difficulties.
This method uses moulding gel to comb and twist the hair. The moulding gel holds and keeps the hair in a dread form usually plaited to keep them in position. When using this method, one needs to have their hair thoroughly washed to get rid of any build that might have accumulated within the dreadlock.
Due to different circumstances dreadlocks may get damaged. At The Dreadlock Parlour we take pride in being able to repair them. They may be breaking (we firmly reattach any fallen pieces and/or supply any missing pieces), thinning out (Depending on the causative, we add loose real human hair and seamlessly crochet it along the length), losing shape (We undo where the lumps are and redo the length making that it is even and smooth), etc, we take of all those.
